22 Feb 2021 - Personal branding
Women in general tend to fall behind when it comes to showcasing their personal brand and hence platform like PInkstripes are committed to not only help women craft their stories but also to amplify it. As part of our commitment to empower and help women unleash their potential, we are featuring some women from our community.
We asked them to share their views on the importance of personal branding and how Pinkstripes can help in the process.
Dr Teoh Chai Lean - Innovation Partnerships (Consumer) at A*STAR
“Visibility is important; stop being the best-kept secret.
From my personal experience, the underlying struggles are mostly related to vulnerability and self-esteem issues that come with visibility and identity. Once those barriers and resistance are overcome, then it's about defining the value you want to bring, your voice/message to the world (everyone has a story to tell!) and consistency of showing up and engaging.
Pinkstripes can be a platform of knowledge sharing, peer assist and a community-of-practice.”
Chai Lean is a science communicator and public speaker, working on innovation partnerships and commercialization.
Valerie Chow - Marketing Consultant at 360 Marketing
“It is very important to showcase oneself and the uniqueness to be known for, both in career and life.
One must invest in learning how to market oneself better and find a platform that can help promote or give prominence to one's personal brand and voice. As, nowadays, most platforms only promote women who are already successful, how about those waiting to be discovered or who need their voice or profile to shine a light on?
I trust Pinkstripes can promote mine and others that need some 'megaphone help''!”
Valerie is an experienced marketing and business leader and a keynote speaker on change, growth and learning.
Georgina Halabi - Founder & Coach at Georgina Halabi Coaching & Consultancy
"Personal branding is so much more than having a website, business cards, and the perfect LinkedIn profile. Whilst these things are important, people are essentially going to be buying into YOU. You’ve got to get the 'personal' right before you can align the second word 'branding.'
Personal branding starts from a deep belief within, that radiates out whether it’s in a conversation, an online bio or a thought-leadership post.
Personal branding isn’t about words and logos. It’s how we embody our brand. People buy people; they buy purpose.
When we come from a place of authenticity and alignment, understanding who we are, what we stand for, and the value this brings to others, it’s powerful. It’s worth the time and effort doing the inner discovery work first. Having my own coach has really helped me with this.
Pinkstripes can make this easier for women through information sharing, workshops, and templates.”
Georgina is a mentor on our platform, a certified coach with more than 2 decades of experience in business and marketing
